Mark D. Buelow – Founder, Owner & President
Mark has over 20 years of construction related experience. In addition, Mark was involved in the corporate world with companies in the Commercial Leasing and Community Banking industries, and most recently with a start-up that eventually went public. This entrepreneurial experience led him to start his own company. He drew upon his corporate, start-up and construction experience to create a unique residential remodeling company designed to deliver top quality projects on schedule, and on budget.
Education & Certifications – Mark has an undergraduate degree in Finance and an MBA. His industry training includes both a Certified Graduate Remodeler (CGR) and Certified Remodeler (CR) certifications, a distinction that less than 1% of the remodelers in the United States can claim.
Atlanta Chapter of NARI (National Association of the Remodeling Industry) – Mark has served in the following capacities:
- Atlanta Chapter Past Chairperson of the Board, 2011 and 2012
- Atlanta Chapter Past President, 2009 and 2010

Rotary – Mark is an active Rotarian, belonging to the Rotary Club of Alpharetta since 2003 and has served in the following capacities:

- Treasurer during 2012-2014 Rotary Year
Family – Mark’s wife, Leigh Ann, is also active in the company. They have three children, two girls and one boy.
Kane Hawkins – Project Manager
Kane has 20 year’s of residential remodeling experience. Kane comes from a third-generation family owned construction company started by his grandfather in the 1950’s here in Atlanta. Having a background in very high-end residential remodeling work, Kane is well equipped to handle any remodeling surprise that might come his way. His attention to the finer finish details, customer service and communication skills are strong points that every client can appreciate. Kane and his wife have two sons. Kane has been on the Distinctive team since January of 2008.
Jenny Samples – Office Manager
Jenny joined Distinctive after 19 years in the mortgage industry, specializing in construction loans. She runs the day-to-day operations of the office, assisting the Team with Accounting, Sales, Marketing, Communication and Project Management. An integral part of the team, Jenny’s work ethic is second to none and she is always available as a secondary point of contact for clients in the office. Jenny and her husband live in Marietta. Jenny has been a member of the Distinctive team since April of 2008.
Leigh Ann Buelow – Vice President / Controller
Leigh Ann has been integral to Distinctive’s success since the founding of the company. Having studied both Accounting and Interior Design, her role in the company touches on many areas. Her main focus is leading the Accounting Department and creating many of the systems and procedures that help ensure the team’s success. Her professional background includes accounting, banking, and direct management experience in running operations and customer service departments. When not in the office, Leigh Ann is very active with her three children, enjoys tennis, and is involved in the community with the Roswell Women’s Club.
